In January, I decided to embark on a solo Tour d’Afrique, from Mombasa, Kenya, to Durban, South Africa, on my bicycle, passing through Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Botswana. This trip starts on March, 6th and will cover over 5,000 km cycling. Seeing as this undertaking has the potential of a wide public exposure, I decided to combine it with raising funds for a cause which is close to my heart and this cause is Mathare. During this trip, I will be supported by my colleagues and friends who are part of the core team for the Mathare project, in seeking funding from individuals, through online crowd-funding. People will be able to donate, with the goal of “1$ for every 1km”. The aim of this cycling fundraiser is to get above 5,000 USD to be able to attract more donors and continue activities with the community.
I pledge to cycle those 5,000 km and fundraise the equivalent in USD, so that the community hall in Mathare can be built. - Sarah
